Hands in the Sky Green Initiatives:
Hands in the Sky Massage Therapy is continously making efforts to decrease its impact on the environment. To date, here are some steps that have been taken to keep Calgary clean and green:
1. We use only phosphate free, plant-based laundry detergent (called Ecos - available at Vitamines First and Costco) on our sheets, and we hang dry as often as possible.
2. All client notes and files (with the exception of the initial health history form) are kept electronically to avoid excess paper use.
3. High effeciency light bulbs are used in the massage room.
4. Non-toxic paint has been used on all the walls in the new Lifestyles Centre!
If you have any suggestions for further green initiatives, please contact Amber.

Amber will be training in Traditional Thai Massage this October. This ancient method of health care was passed down through the centuries by Buddhist monks. Often referred to as Thai Yoga massage, this style of bodywork is different from what most western people think of as massage. It is practiced fully clothed on a floor mat without oils or lotions. Thai massage techniques, using the thumbs, elbows, palms, forearms, feet, and knees.
Amber completed the John Barnes Myofascial Release 1, 4-day seminar. Myofascial release is used to release long-term webs of scar tissue which can pull/put pressure on other body structures including organs and tissues far from the site of injury. To read more, check out John Barnes web site at: http://www.myofascialrelease.com/home.asp If you would like to try this interesting modality please bring shorts/sports bra.
Amber will now be offering Hot Stone Massage . Hot Stone Massage is a delightfully pampering treatment done with basalt stones hand picked from Vancouver Island and Maui. Stones are heated in hot water and gracefully applied to the body's key points to relax and sooth mind, body and spirit!
